When Jana Barcus first came to the farm to access my horse, I wasn't expecting miracles. I figured it was a great selling strategy to get you to buy Purina. Not being brand loyal at the time, I figured why not, what would be the harm. Leo, at age 29 was in failing health, and I figured it was just his age. He had lived a long happy life, and some horses just don't live to 30yrs old...right? When Jana arrived, he was lethargic had diarrhea and was very thin. Again, I thought it was his age that was causing all this, not his feed or lack of feed. She immediately, set into motion an emergency feeding program. She highly suggested we coordinate this with a physical exam from our vet. After getting the go ahead the next day from our vet, Dr. Schwab & Palmer, we began a gradual feeding program which included Purina Senior Feed. Over the course of the next 3 weeks we increased the number of pounds he was given until we set a maintenance amount for the length of the trial period. In a matter of a week, you could see a difference in is energy level. His eyes where more alert his head held just a little higher, the diarrhea subsided as well. Since he has so few teeth left, eating hay was very difficult, and as Jana explained, with the Senior feed, he no longer had to have the hay....he was receiving everything he needed within the food. Week by week, it was if he was coming back to life. I would never have believed a feed could have made the difference between life and death, but Leo, the former high energy hunter-jumper, was once again emerging. After the feed trial period was over, the physical and emotional difference in Leo is no less a miracle. He runs at full speed around the paddock. He bucks, whinnies and is a living testimony that the right feed and the expertise of a knowledgeable Purina representative, like Jana Barcus can truly be the difference between life and death for your beloved companion. Leo is proof positive that it is never to late to try something different in order to keep your companion with you a little bit longer.

Fighting the battle of the skinnies gets old - and costly. We had tried numerous feeds and supplements but still weren't getting the results we wanted for our Friesian Cross Breeding Program.
Then one day, Jana Barcus of Y BAR H in Olathe stopped by the farm. She was a wealth of information on Purina feeds. After discussing the wonderful results others had with Strategy, we decided to put our mares and foals on it to see what would happen. In just a few months the results were there before our eyes. Substantial weight gain was achieved without adding supplements and with less feed. Better topline and hair coats were noticed. The yearlings have a marked increase in growth and development compared to the prior year's foals. The same is noted with the weanlings. We are feeding less, and gaining more!
Jana recommended Ultium for our Friesian performance Stallion Dedrick. Strenuous dressage training, showing, breeding and drill team activites were making it difficult to keep his weight satisfactory. In just the couple months since changing to Ultium we no longer need to add oil, vitamins or weight builders. Diederik has gained and bloomed with plenty of energy to keep up with his hectic routine.
